To Hell and Back With You Life pushed us to a time and brought us to a place Where all we had was anger and all we feared was grace So we tread on all those flowers and ate up all that lace Pushed it all aside to suffocate in space Love was just so fickle and beauty even worse We bore our femininity like a sick and bitter curse And made a soundtrack for our lives with pain in every verse Waiting for our prince to come astride his mighty hearse Oh but then there were those days We rode out in the sun Dreamed a bit of faith and remembered we were young we sketched our broken hearts upon our polished sleeves and cradled our limp tongues between our meticulous teeth hair coifed, make up done, we have to look complete cry, breath, force a smile, laugh and then repeat we fell into a rhythm and drowned at every sigh painted our shamed desires of love across the sky and dreamed that one day we might have the will to try maybe if our fear hadn’t kissed innocence goodbye oh but then there were those nights we tasted sunlight on our tongues took a deep breath in and allowed hope to fill our lungs so we watched those sappy movies and rode bikes all day long dreamed again of beauty and stopped pretending to be strong isn’t it the weak ones who find places to belong we forgave ourselves and others and learned to sense the wrong we found our shapes again as we helped each other bend you helped me fill my new skin with the love of an old friend I guess our lives began when our ropes and wits could end Thanks for meeting me there, you were my Godsend Oh how far gone are the days When the world was in our skin I think that’s when we grew up When we were free to be children

About the Book
This book is a collaboration of poetry written between myself and my sister, Cassie Lacrosse over the course of a several years. These poems were our way of communicating while she traveled and went on various adventures. I had them arranged in a scrapbook for her the year before she passed away and have felt really encouraged to move further forward with them. Throughout these pages you should find a variety of emotions, concepts and writing styles. They are written from many different stages in our life and really showcase some periods of growth, struggle, doubt, hope, etc. They're all in here. I've found putting this book together to be extremely comforting and am a little reluctant to let go but, mostly, I'm excited to put our words out there. I have continued writing since she passed but still look through her old poems for inspiration and comfort. I am so incredibly blessed to have this to remember her by and am thankful for the opportunity to share my journey.
About the Author
Cassie Lacrosse (9/14/87-11/28/09) was an incredibly sincere and talented individual. She had a spunk for life and a compassion for others that was inspiring to everyone around her. She greatly enjoyed travel and coined the term "vagabondage" to describe her insatiable need to explore the world around her. In her last few years on this earth she spent a great deal of time traveling; studying photography abroad, working in Orphanages and working for a tour guide company. She touched many lives during her short life and I am proud to call her my sister. RaeAnne Lacrosse lives and works in a small town in Alaska. She is a first time author and is extremely excited about this opportunity. RaeAnne still writes frequently, a large volume of poetry, occasional short stories , children's stories and essays. She also enjoys dancing, culinary arts, travel and working with youth. She is working to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Development and hopes to teach in her home state.
