These anecdotes range from the innocent comments of 6 year olds to the sarcastic rejoinders of teenagers. When you share them with friends, family and musicians (especially piano players) they will "LOL". Examples: Arriving at Amanda's house for her lesson, I was greeted at the door by her little brother Ryan who yelled "Amanda, your worst nightmare is here!" Upon David's first glance at a new song that I put in front of him, he asked "How do the people made this book expect me to play this? Who do they think I am, Mozart, Beethoven, Picasso? Assigning Sasha a new piece, I told her it was going to be easy to learn because I new she would be familiar with the melody. When I put Jolly ol Saint Nicholas in front of her, she remarked " I dont know this song" puzzled by this, I looked at her mother who said "we're Jewish"

About the Book
After 25 years as a piano teacher of 100 students, mostly children, I find that i continue to be impressed by their musical talent and amused by their unexpected comments. If you like kids as much as i do, you will appreciate some of their unintentional and frequently uninhibited humor. Quoting my late grandmother Velma Peterson, as she quoted a favorite early T.V. host "Kids Say the Darnest Things".
About the Author
John Matteson is a Jazz Pianist and Rock Keyboardist from Las Vegas, Nevada. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the University Nevada Las Vegas and performs regularly in various ensembles as a leader and as a sideman. John also teaches Music Theory for the College of Southern Nevada and private piano in the Las Vegas area.
