Simon Rodia created the Watts towers by himself using bits of broken glass, dishes, seashells, pottery and tile. Mr. Rodia stared to build the towers in 1921and worked on it the next 34 years. The tallest tower is 99 1/2 feet tall and the artist did not use any scaffold while building the towers. Instead, he climbed to the top of each structure to make it taller. Mr. Rodia named his creation Nuestro Pueblo (Our Town).
