And cry within,

That I must make amends.
No one knows
The troubles I have,
I keep everyone guessing
With a day to day laugh.
Why do you care
What’s on my mind,
I ask this of others...

I am like a book

Your full attention I have captured.
Don’t skim the pages
And look from cover to cover,
Take your time and read my heart...
Introduction
This book is a short history
Of my life,
Throughout my many moods
The stress and strife.
Inspired by my family
Who all had a share,
They taught me the hard way
That life isn’t fair.
I hope you enjoy
This little piece of me,
To better understand
How I’ve been set free.
So take a journey with me
Over the last twenty years,
To see my happiness
And feel my tears.
Keep this little piece of me
Close to your heart,
Pray for me
As I do my part.

About the Book
I have always been inspired to write poetry. The first poem I ever wrote was to my mother over 30 years ago. I realized early on that poetry was the best way to express myself. I have a God-given talent to write Sonnet style poetry on various topics. Take a journey with me over the last 20 years of my life. I’ve shared how God has truly blessed me, and those around me. I invite you to read about my hurts, my joys, and my testimonies. I know that you too will be able to identify with the poems in this first book of more to come. All of the poems in this book have been inspired by, and given through the Holy Spirit. I love to communicate my thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a way that leaves my readers speechless. I have seen a lot through my travels across the country, and even in combat zones (through the Air Force). After reading this book you’ll see that God has left no stone unturned.
About the Author
I am the youngest of five siblings born in Niagara Falls, New York. I've had a very memorable childhood influenced by many people along the way. I dedicate this book to my husband Anthony. You have been my "Rock" for more than 20 years, and I'm thankful. You have been by my side through it all.
I graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1988, and joined the United States Air Force in 1989. God strategically placed me in Florida (where we are now retired), Alaska, and New Mexico. I have also visited Peru, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Afghanistan. Along my journey God has imparted "Wisdom", and I was able to continue writing poetry relevant to the various situations I've been a part of. I have retired from the Air Force after serving for 21+ years.
I am married to Anthony Smith Sr. (who has been my rock for over 20 years), who is also retired from the United States Air Force. God blessed us with four children (Kimberly, Antonia, Anthony Jr, and Antoine; and five grandchildren (LaDerricka, Derrick, Jahmya, Aaliyah and Jeremy Jr.) I am very excited about what God is doing in my life.
I am a God-fearing Christian who was baptized in the Bearing Sea while stationed at Shemya, Alaska. I am an active member of New Life Deliverance Temple Church where I serve under Bishop Mark A. Williams Sr., and his wife Apostle Brenda M. Williams.
It is my prayer that the reader of this book is touched by something they've read in my book, and is able to smile...realizing that God has a plan and a purpose for our lives.
