About the Author

Author, technology thought-leader, philanthropist and technology entrepreneur, Andrew West is the founding President of NBITLO--the National Black Information Technology Leadership Organization and chief executive officer of Houston-based West Innovation Group–a full service technology support and solutions consulting firm specializing in technology strategy, policy and enterprise deployments. West speaks on the subjects of STEM, blacks in IT and technology entrepreneurialism. West, 35, is a senior level information technology leader with executive level experience. He is highly successful at planning, building and growing technology departments aligned with supporting organizational vision, and objectives leading the way to new and exciting levels. West is a visionary who synthesizes facts, events and concepts to develop successful outcomes. He is highly passionate in the development and implementation of technology solutions and programs that have positively impacted business operations resulting in keen financial management, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness; Recognized as being spirited, resourceful and persistent, with the highest level of business ethics; Throughout West's career, he has led major technology revenue generating projects totaling over $157 million dollars, implemented systems that delivered cost-savings and operational efficiency to customers, and more importantly overcame countless obstacles, milestones, and transitions as an IT leader. West has worked in technology support and management capacities in the corporate sector in Broadcasting with CNN – Turner Technology Services in Atlanta, Georgia; Telecommunications with MCI Worldcom in Atlanta and Austin Texas; Financial Services with Capital One Bank, also higher education with Dillard University in New Orleans, and K-12 technology capacities with Algiers Charter Schools Consortium in New Orleans Louisiana. West is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana where he attended Redeemer-Seton High School. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi were he studied abroad at Enforex Spanish learning school in Madrid, Spain and participated in an executive level leadership cohort at the Tulane University A.B. Freeman School of Business and Entrepreneurship. West is a published national best-selling author of The Modern CEO: Technology Tools, Innovation & Guidebook for Today’s Tech Savvy Leader (2012, Authorhouse), and advocate for technology-integrated learning, a mentor to many early career technology professionals and now resides in the great silicone south – Houston, Texas.
