Currently within EPC contracting the Myth is that any engineering assistant to the
Project Manager, Engineering Manager or Construction Manager is a Project Engineer, and
any engineer at any time can be designated a Project Engineer. The correct definition of a
Project engineer and its roles & responsibilities are described in the following Chapters.
What is Project Engineering?
Project Engineering is nothing but the integration of all the different aspects of an EPC
project.
In the following chapters each role of a project engineer has been described in a simple
manner. Focus has been given for easy understanding of the subject with essential
design drawings, charts and useful tips.
There are several books available on the subject of Project Management. However very
little work has been done on Project Engineering. This is probably the first ever book
where an effort has been made to combine all the aspects of a project and the Project
Engineer’s role in it.
This book will not only remind Project Engineers about their duties & responsibilities, but
also provide useful thumb rules, charts and design drawings to make it a handy book for
day to day working life.
