About the Book
Every artist focusing on figure drawings uses his own composition to emphasize the individuality of the subject matter. Through this process they transcend what starts as a technical exercise in sketching and make it more expressive, more powerful. To turn a sketch into an artwork, it must be individual to the artist yet referential. In Zhang’s case, he recalls both the Western tradition of tones and Eastern tradition of lines in a mature style that is aloft, unique, and creative.
