About the Book
In his first novel “96” Larry Brooks puts on display his ability to turn real life experiences into parables to drive home his philosophical view points. Coming from a small town in Texas; Brooks takes you on his journey from hustling in the back woods of Texas to being a military brat in Hinesville Georgia throughout his early adolescences. In doing so he comes up with the foundation of his lifelong philosophy.
About the Author
Born July 6, 1979, in Liberty Texas of two teenage parents Larry M. Brooks was surrounded by two things; family and poverty. At the age of four his mother made a conscious decision to enlist into the United States Army to escape the extreme poverty and pull her family out of the backwoods of Texas. As his mother traveled the United States with her new job Larry and his brother lived with her sporadically for 10 years. The experience of constantly being bounced from family member to family member, house to house and state to state as his mother soldiered forced Larry to create a personal philosophy of living and thinking that enabled him to survive and protect him and his younger brother in an environment of constant change and challenges. Today Larry mixes his vast knowledge of adapting and overcoming the challenges the world presents many young black men with his passion for scholastics.
