About the Book

About the Author

Stephen Scott is a retired educator and Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve for 28 years. He enjoys learning, teaching, creating things, drawing, storytelling, and writing poems, short stories and music. A percussionist in the St. Luke Wind Ensemble, he also plays with the Columbus Cavaliers, a 17 piece swing band. He is the author of Katie and the Kudzu King and is working on the illustrations for a third book, Ben and the Little Blue Bus. He has become an accomplished "retiree" and enjoys it immensely. Four grown children and five grandchildren are scattered around the globe. He wrote this story with his children when they were younger because they joked about his efforts to get them to eat right and to try new foods. Stephen lives in Columbus, Georgia with his wife Adleyn, a retired teacher who is also an artist and church organist. Donna Kristine Bailey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in commercial art from California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, California and an Associate in Art degree from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. She was a commercial artist for 15 years with a small town newspaper and taught art for the Sonoma Valley Adult Education program for several years. She is currently teaching art and has painted commissioned portraits (people and pets) for many years. She has a studio in the beautiful countryside near LaGrange, Georgia where she resides with her husband Bob, several horses and numerous cats. You can visit her website at .
