1. I think we humans are a lot luckier than Lucifer. In our life we get a lot of humiliations - everyone does. So the temptation towards pride is much less for us than it was for Lucifer. Pride is not a natural instinct for animals and mortals. It is higher than that. It comes in at the soul and spirit level. Also, it is very devious. People can be just as proud of being humble as of anything else. It can tie you up in knots. It must be difficult for the Lanonandek Sons to be humble because they have so much to be proud of. We don't. There is not one of us, no matter how clever, that is not stupid about something. Higher Mathematics, for example, gives me an inferiority complex. Computer programming just gives me a headache. Financial services seem like mumbo-jumbo. Learning languages is a real grind. I can think of at least a thousand things that make me feel stupid. So, if I am humble at all, it is only by the Grace of God; and, if He had made me like He made Lucifer, through Christ Michael and Nebadonia, as a Lanonandek Son, I am sure I would have been as proud as Punch, and done a lot worse things than poor Lucifer ever thought of; so I do feel sorry for him. It is such a waste. If only Lucifer knew what Saint Paul said: “What do we have that we have not received,” he might have been alright!

Most of the book is a collection of documents from other interesting sources, mainly contemporary, and available on the web. But the explanations and the original approach of the author are breath-taking in their boldness and stretch of the imagination. He makes spiritual things seem vital, real and familiar, including Lucifer himself, who must once have been a most engaging character -- and could perhaps be so again.
About the Author
Father Thwaytes has worked as a missionary priest in India in the educational field for the past 45 years. Before that he had been a soldier, and a businessman. He acquired an M.A. in modern history at Oxford University and a D.B.A. from Ivey Business School, Canada, a half blue for Judo, and played rugby for South India. He looks after a pack of orphan boys at a place a bit like Hogwarts.
