"The Lord is My Shepherd." Lord, your Word says your thoughts are with me continually, and you are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Like a shepherd who is continually mindful of the needs of his sheep, you are always thinking of me. You sing over me. Your voice calms my fears. You know all about me - every intricate detail. You knew me even before I was born, while I was still in my mother's womb. You've followed my every move my whole life. You know every word on my tongue and every secret of my heart. Like the shepherd who studies his sheep, You are familiar with all my ways - the way I walk, the way I turn my head, the distinct sound of my voice. You could pick me out of a crowd of a million who look similar to me. When all I can say is “baaa”, your Spirit interprets and meets my need. You know how strong I am and whether or not I can make the steep climb ahead. When I overestimate my strength and abilities, pushing myself too hard, you tenderly pull me back to a pace that is right for me. You gently encourage me when I need a little push to overcome the obstacle up ahead. You know me better than I know myself, because you made me. And you love me so much that you think about me all the time. How awesome to be known and loved to such depths! How wonderful to have such a compassionate Shepherd. About the Author
Carolyn Petroski learned from an early age to draw strength and comfort from the Psalms and other bible scriptures. Her faith walk helped her cope with her mother's lifelong mental illness, her father's World War II related post traumatic stress disorder, six years as a single parent, and most recently, fourteen years as caregiver of aging parents. Carolyn earned a degree in special education with a minor in psychology, and has worked as a public school teacher, a home school mom, and a non-profit founder and director. She and her husband, Jeff, have three grown children and live in Lancaster, S.C.
