About the Author

Walt Breede attended Catholic schools in a New York suburb before attending and graduating from the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps. His 26 years of commissioned service included combat in Vietnam, service in the United States as well as in Japan and Turkey. The second half of his Marine Corps career was spent as an intelligence officer in Ankara, Turkey, Washington, D. C. and Quantico, VA. After moving to the Retired List, Breede became a high school mathematics teacher and a coach in various sports, including football, soccer and track.He carried the torch for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and has completed five marathons. He has tried to retire from teaching unsuccessfully several times and still teaches mathematics part-time in Juno Beach, Florida. He is married to Betty, his wife of 48 years. They have five children and four grandchildren and reside in Jupiter, Florida. "Altar Stone" is his second Alan Llewellyn novel.
