Yin and Yang Nothing is anything without the antithesis And that dichotomy defines everything We are happy only because we know The depths of sadness Thus man can never be content to exist Solely in paradise The pendulum of happiness Swings on a tenuous string Those who have lived too long in the shadows Bask in the white-hot light But that happiness is restrained Because they know the nearness of the night Now those who have never experienced the darkness Don’t know enough to appreciate the light The sun burns, and begins to feel rather contrite And any shadow cast feels like the darkest night It is a beautiful catastrophe, This thing we call life, We know we exist because we have seen others die With the pleasure of a touch Comes the pain of giving life And in the sadness of death we know we are alive

Welcome to this journey of poetic expression. To give you a bit of background on myself, I have been writing poetry since I was a child and this book is a compilation of reflections, experiences, and people I have encountered throughout my life.
