About the Book
A young boy is surprised by his grades. His parents are upset at first but after the parent-teacher conference the parents decide that they need to make some adjustments to be more available to help Benjamin do better in school. It's a humorous take on a very common situation. This is a great read for the whole family.
About the Author
I have been an art teacher for seven years. I have witnessed many parents and students stressed out over grades during my time as a teacher. Teaching allows me to see the situation from the student perspective as well as the adult's. I wrote this book hoping to shed some light on the issue so many students face today which is a lack of adequate support at home. I don't say this to accuse parents but just to remind them that while maintaining household obligations is a priority, the students' need for accountability at home as well as at school is equally important. Hopefully, this story will make parents more sympathetic to the children and children more understanding of their parents. This story is one that comes out of my own experience growing up. I faced the same report card challenges when I was in elementary school. Today, I am a husband and father of two beautiful girls. My concern for their education and my own performance as a father sparked me to write something that can reach the average American family without condemning the parent or student but rather bridge a gap that, at times, gets neglected therefore becoming wider and wider. I currently reside in Charlotte, NC and still teach art at a charter school. I still paint and exhibit in and around Charlotte.
