About the Book

Yasumi wags her tail, barks, howls and whimpers to express her feelings. You could not help feeling sorry for her when she looks at you with her sad, big brown eyes. These tales are from her point of view and illustrate her life experiences—often, she gets caught in between her free spirit and human rules. Yet, she shows who really is the boss in the family. Not only will children enjoy reading her tales, but also adults will have fun reading it.

About the Author

I have studied Japanese literature from the classics to contemporary works while attending the University of Washington. In my studies, I’ve dealt with a variety of genres in different eras in the originals and also in the translation works. After closing my business several years ago, I worked extensively translating into Japanese: African Folktales (Ghana), European Folktales, Okinawan Folktales, and am 1/3 of the way through translating my husband’s novel, The Grass Mausoleum. I have begun the first in a series of “Tails.” Currently, I am working on a travel journal. I contributed to a newsletter about Uchina-guchi (the Okinawan language) for a local Okinawan organization and also helped some businesses with translation work. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, decorating cakes, gardening, photography and playing the piano. Currently, I am living in Mountlake Terrace, Washington with my husband, Don, our youngest son, Robert, and with our five-year-old basset hound, Hanako.
