About the Book

Somewhere just over a distant hill is the magical world of Strapper Gnome. He lives with his mother in a house built into a stone wall, on a slope that looks out over Fidgety Forest. The stories herein tell of his life, the people he meets and the wonderous things that happen to him in the Forest.

About the Author

Peter Yorke started writing when he retired in 1996. Married and living in Cornwall England, his first book, “The Man Who Would Fly” a collecting of short stories, was published in 2006. Strapper the Gnome first saw the light of day in 1998, then as stories told to young members of his family and friends. Alan Batley has been a freelance illustrator since 1984 and works in various mediums including watercolour, acrylic, gouache, pencil, ink and markers. He draws in a variety of styles, for clients that include Architects, Advertising Agencies, Designers, Local Authorities, Conservation Groups, and for Publishers that include Letts and Transworld. Upon meeting in 2004, Peter and Alan agreed to jointly work on bringing the Gnome 'to life'.
