On that final note, Rosanna realized that the interview was over. Ms. Barclay stood extending her hand. There was a barely perceptible hesitation before Rosanna clasped it firmly. Whatever hopes she harboured for a relationship with Angus were decidedly put on hold. Rosanna blocked any thoughts from her mind as she collected the envelope and a large folder from Tuyet. Both felt like a death sentence in her hand. The envelope was quickly stored away in her purse and the folder tucked under her arm. The sunshine, so welcome before, was like a blinding light as she exited the side entrance of the hospital. Looking left and right, Rosanna picked up her pace, wanting to get home as quickly as possible. The condo felt welcoming but there was no joy in Rosanna. Shoes were carelessly kicked in different directions. He body was flung into the couch with complete disregard for the effort it took to get herself ready for the interview. With nervous fingers Rosanna extracted the envelope from her purse. It fell quickly to the floor as the first of many harsh jangles from the direction of the telephone, sounded in her ears. With a pounding heart and nerveless fingers she stared at the phone, emotionally disconnecting from its seductive summons.

About the Author
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. It was not my primary career, but the idea of writing stories has always been important to me. Publishing my first book encouraged me to continue writing stories for the Web, articles for my work, and of course, another novel. As my career in health care winds down, I look forward to making writing a second career. For years, I have listened to women share stories about their incredible lives. Many of them are not able to make their struggles known through the printed word. My hope is to provide a vehicle through which others may learn from their experiences. I don't always consider myself a writer as much as a storyteller. Attempting new and different ideas is not strange to me—I was blessed with the greatest role models: my grandmother and mother. They are both strong women who lived lives few could imagine. Also, with the support of a marriage that has lasted four decades and resulted in two children and four grandchildren, I feel that dedicating the rest of my life to the pleasure of writing will be just as rewarding as my careers in health and wellness, ministry, and community service.
