The Reading Rug

About the Book

Queenie likes math, but she does not like reading. Queenie especially hates the Reading Rug because she has to read outloud and raise her hand to answer questions. She wishes when she did answer a questions that her teacher would say she was "exactly right" like she does when Josh raises his hand, but most of the time her teacher tells her she is "almost right" or "nice try." Queenie's teacher and parents are determined to get Queenie to like reading. Will their plan work?

About the Author

Debbie Hunsaker is a teacher and mother. Debbie currently is the Instructional Innovations Unit Director for the state of Montana. She works with schools districts across MT and consults outside the state of MT to help schools improve literacy for all students. Debbie has three boys and has personally seen the effects of having a struggling reader. She knows how ciritcal it is for schools and parents to work together. When schools create strong systems to support ALL students and actively involve parents, every student has the chance of being and feeling successful. Debbie considers her greatest joys to be her marriage to her husband Rob and their three sons, Josh, Jordan, and Jarred.
