In this book, we share child victims’ stories and adult survivors’ stories in a way you’ve never heard before. Remaining true to the facts given to us, we bring these voices to life and let them speak to us in a life-changing way.
We have created action, dialogue, internal motivations, and in some cases, additional characters that we feel are consistent with the historical record. Also, we have attempted to remain true to the message of preventing child abuse and hope to heal from past wounds of abuse and have only added what is needed to aid in understanding the intended message.
We have taken creative liberties in adding a number of fictional and televised talk show scenarios in order to better tell our stories and those of the victims of child abuse. However, the names and identities of all victims and abusers who have granted us permission to use their stories will remain anonymous. Also, the names given to other characters in the book, guests on the show or audience members are invented names and identities.
Our real names, John Borgstedt and Theresa Westbrook, are used in depicting our fictional story (based on true stories and information regarding abuse and counseling). Other friends and/or associates that have granted permission for the use of their real names in this fictional setting are: Sharon Brown, Laura Henry, Sondra Martin-Hicks, Charlene McEntire, Judy DeKuehn, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, and Chaplain Voss. The settings they are depicted in may or may not be fictional ones, though based on true situations.
Dates, times, and places or entities are fictional inventions, except for mention of the Texas Youth Commission facilities that we have visited. The settings used in our stories are sometimes fictionalized to flow with a standard topic of discussion that we want to bring to light and may or may not have actually happened per se`, though based on true experiences at TYC.
Howbeit, we feel that a ‘televised show’ of such magnitude would be a great dream to pursue, for bringing the massive issues of child abuse to light and serve as a ‘channel of hope’ for our entire nation and world.

About the Author
Now in demand as motivational speakers are child and adult advocates, Theresa Westbrook and John Borgstedt. As authors, they also feel privileged to again have become the voice of silent victims and survivors in their most recent book entitled The Advocates…Of the Abused and Silent.
