Committing to Change YOU Most couples enter into a relationship because there are so many positive things they like about their partner. Eventually they begin to notice a lot of “character flaws” in their partner. They either decide they can deal with it, or think it will eventually change. What they really mean is “I can change that!.” This is one of the biggest mistakes we make in relationships. You cannot change the things that you see as flaws in any person. Only the person and God can change a person. What you can do is change the way you respond to those things you see as flaws! The only person you truly have control over is you. So, if you commit to change your response to the things you don’t like, you’ll find much more peace and tranquility in your marriage. There’s nothing wrong with letting your spouse know you don’t like something or disagree with something. But if you find that is a part of who they are, you simply don’t let it impact you and your actions. Be loving enough to adjust to fit your spouse. When both parties are making adjustments, you’re bound to get the perfect fit. As it says in 1 Corinthians 13, “love endures ALL things.” In order to reflect the true love of God, we must endure the things that we don’t necessarily like or agree with, this word endure also means we may have to deal with it for a LONG time. If you’re going to deal with for a long time; may as well make the best of it. To help us with planting the seed of changing me, we refer to a familiar passage of scripture found in Romans 12; renewing your mind to the things of God. We want to think with the mind of Christ, which is one of humility, esteeming others higher than himself, becoming a servant and putting aside your desires, your aspirations for those of others. In this and all seeds, look to God for your harvest, He is faithful to reward you greatly.

About the Author
After a successful tour in the Marine Corps, Winston spent the next 15 years climbing the corporate latter working for several Fortune 500 companies. With seemingly everything a man could possibly want; family, great job, business owner, church leader, one thing was missing, a true understanding of God’s design of marriage. After 21 years of marriage, it all came to a halt, marriage, house, cars, job, business all disappeared like a vapor. “With $40 to my name, a borrowed car, no job and living with my mother at age 46, God began to rebuild me.” God has given him wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He has been blessed with a new life, new wife and most of all a passion for others who are experiencing doing marriage wrong. With one book published, Winston is currently writing “Killing the Demon of Divorce” which addresses divorce prevention, living as a divorced person, and allowing God to rebuild you.
