INTRODUCTION
Embracing the Desperate Moments of Life is about this journey called life, and how at any given moment things may change. That in and of itself is not surprising for everything must change. Change is inevitable. It is easy for us to embrace the good moments; the ups of life, but the challenge comes when the change presents us with the not so good moments of discouragement, disappointment, disease, difficulty, distress, death, or despair. I prefer to call them the “Desperate Moments of Life.”
This book comes to encourage and empower you to embrace (accept willingly, welcome, deal with) even the desperate moments of life. After all Job said
Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble… (Job 14:1).
It is not if trouble comes, but when? Even so, be not dismayed because the psalmist declares,
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
So the question that we must grapple with is: How do you deal with those desperate moments? Do you:
1. Try to escape or go through?
2. Give in to the temptations or pass the tests?
3. Listen to the voices of self and others or the voice of God?
4. Depend on human efforts or depend on God?
5. Repeat history or learn from new experiences?
6. Turn to negative vices or turn to an all knowing God?
7. Operate in unbelief or operate in faith?
This is probably a good time to define or clarify what the word “moment” means, because I hear you saying what you didn’t say, “How long is a moment?” After all, time is important to us and when things are going bad the shorter the better. In a literal sense it could be a micro second, a short period or a while. But for the purposes of this book it is used figuratively, referring to a period of time as in a season, which could be a night, a week, a month, a year or even years. Such as is noted in the scripture,
…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
The night could very well represent a season or moment. So it could be said that weeping may endure for a moment, but joy comes in the morning.
Not only are we to embrace the moment, but it is essential that we keep it moving. Stuff has a way of slowing us down and even stopping us in our tracks. It causes us to lose momentum, as well as lose sight of our destiny. We must move past the now and embrace the not yet, being confident that this too will past.
The “desperate moments” of life have a way of developing and deepening our faith and character through a more intimate relationship with God. However, I do understand that “desperate moments” have a way of making us better or making us bitter. It is a decision that we must make because embedded in the word “embrace” is the word “brace.” Brace means to prepare, fix firmly, steady yourself secure against pressure or impact. Knowing that God is with me always means that He is also in the “desperate moments of life.”
As you read this book, look for opportunities to be encouraged and empowered by Embracing the Desperate Moments of Life no matter what comes your way. You will be taken through several critical steps on how to brace yourself for the moments of life. Careful reading and receiving will take you to a place of peace, knowing that God is in the moment. As such, you can “trust” Him in the midst of your moment. After all, He make it do what it do!

It gives insight into how to handle the night seasons of our lives. Even though the devil desires to use these moments to destroy you, God has another plan. About the Author
Dr. Florida Thomas Morehead is the organizer and senior pastor of Shalom Ministries Christian Center in Fort Washington, MD. She the founder of the City of Peace Enterprises, Inc., and also serves as Overseer of the Mid-Atlantic District of the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America.
She has touched the lives of many through her teaching and preaching of the gospel. Dr. Morehead has a way of reaching deep into the hearts of people with a profound yet simple message. She ministers under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit to the unsaved, unchurched, disinherited, hurting, broken and bruised and hundreds have received salvation, transformation and deliverance. Her message is practical, and appropriate for people of all ages and all walks of life.
Dr. Morehead grew up in the cotton fields of Arkansas as the daughter of sharecroppers, and has faced many challenges and struggles over the years. Through it all she has experienced Jesus as Savior, Healer and Deliverer. It is her relationship with God that allows her to embrace the desperate moments of life.
She has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science degree in Chemistry, a Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry.
She has two adult daughters, a granddaughter and several godchildren.
