Mamma always says to eat my banana,
but to never eat the peel.
“What am I to do,” I ask, “after my yummy
banana meal?”
Daddy leads me right outside
wearing his nice work socks.
“Here my son,” he says to me, “throw it in the box.”
I look at him a little sideways, crazy as it seems.
I toss in my slimy banana peel and watch as daddy beams.

About the Author
Acadia McGee graduated in 2009 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and soon after began writing and illustrating Compost! (italicized) She believes in educating children on ways to care for themselves, the people around them, and the planet in order to become construcitve world citizens. She lives with her husband and their son in Saint Louis. This is Acadia's first children's book.
