For the Sake of the Future

Sean walked quite confidently into the hall, observing all the aspects of the large space just as Neelam had done not too long before. Sean however did not find very much to investigate and instead chose to sit in one of the chairs provided. Running his hand through his dirty blonde hair, Sean sighed as he waited expectantly for someone to come out and explain why he was here. He considered taking a nap after he had been waiting ten minutes, but was interrupted by another of the doors opening. The man who entered looked of Indian ethnicity; he wore dark grey trousers, a white vest and sported a slightly overgrown beard with no moustache. His hair was more overgrown than long, held back by a scarf that banded around his forehead then looped around his neck a few times before waving out far behind him. The man’s sun beaten features glared ahead with an unsettling intensity and his entire physique looked honed to perfection; he gave the appearance of a hunting cat ready to pounce at any moment. Sean wasn’t too worried by that prospect, he was just glad for the company.
“Hey there! My name’s Sean Cascarino. I don’t suppose you could tell me where we are, hey?” the man closed the door behind him and approached Sean. After taking a quick look around he seemed to relax a little and smile.
“In all honesty that is a question I was hoping you could answer,” his voice was loud and clear. Sean had been worried that the man might not have spoken English, but his speech was well enunciated, though it carried a fair bit of his ethnic accent.
“Are you the one who saved me, yeah?” Sean asked. The other man’s eyes narrowed for a moment and then he appeared to fall into thought. Sean wanted to push the issue, seeing as he seemed to know something about what Sean had asked, but he reluctantly refrained and sat back in his seat. After a short hesitance, the other man spoke again.
“My name is Marid Rais. I am sorry for my hesitation in answering. It is just that you appear to have taken the question I was about to ask. You see before I was here, I was performing a … job. I was badly wounded and then I awoke here,”
