Expedition to Eden
I sit beside a sunset lake,
Cares and woes dissolving like
The sun’s last beams and the hatred of the world.
Now all is peace and warm currents.
Close your eyes a million miles away,
As you remember days spent on shaded mountain trails,
And nights running through tranquil fields
When the world lay dormant beneath the godlike moon and stars.
When I look upon the idyllic tides of the sea,
I see in my mind the wisdom on your face
As we used to gaze on God’s creation
With inexpressible awe and grace.
Brought back to reality by the melody of a bird-conversation,
I see that the light has faded overhead,
And the stars in silent glory smile from above.
I know you see them too.

About the Author
2010: Richard Lyne is a sixteen-year old poet who has been writing throughout his life in high school. He is currently enrolled at Lovejoy High School where he takes advanced-level English and humanities classes. Poetry is his greatest passion in which he engages on a day-to-day basis. He has an immense love for all forms of art, primarily music and literature. His greatest influences are his favorite teachers and those artists from which he draws inspiration. Richard lives in Fairview, Texas with his sister and parents.
