About the Book

Imagine a chilly morning on Cold Mountain's slope in China. A naked couple in lusty embrace thrash beside a steaming spring-fed pool. One is a breathless male in midlife, nearly exhausted with effort. His partner, a young female, gasps and moans in the throws of orgasm. From the mouth of his cave above the spring, the gray poet looks on, dreamily amused—his pen stiffly aroused above a sheet of parchment. Behind him are the philosophical pages he jotted down in the early light before the couple wandered into his awareness. This is "Gray House By Cold Mountain", George Thomas's first book with AuthorHouse.

About the Author

Pornographer or philosopher? "Both," the poet says. In his first book with AuthorHouse, Gray House By Cold Mountain, George Thomas appears in the guise of a philosophical poet/pornographer who celebrates joyous sexuality and philosophical detachment. Previous to his incarnation at AuthorHouse, the writer’s stories, a handful of essays and his poetry have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies both here and abroad. In addition to his own writing, George Thomas co-founded and co-edited Eastern Washington University’s vibrant Willow Springs Magazine for 2 1/2 years. After that, he and his wife founded and published a monthly literary microzine for six years, George & Mertie’s Place, which was edited primarily by Mr. Thomas during the last five years. Then, with Tom and Iris Gribble, he co-founded and jointly edited, Heliotrope, a literary annual. About his own publication, George & Mertie's Place, he says, proudly, “We paid our writers. Not much, that’s for sure, but we did pay them with something more than complimentary copies. All in all, the editing task was rewarding and educational. We published the work of some very fine writers." His second book with Authorhouse, Tenderfoot, is based quite extensively on his MFA thesis from Eastern Washington University and much of the poetry in Tenderfoot is collected from those poems that have been published in literary magazines and anthologies.
