Ann took off her robe and laid it at the foot of her bed. She sat on the bed and slipped off her slippers. As Ann rested her head on her pillow she felt Ron move. "Are you awake, Ron?" Ann asked. Ron did not answer her. Ann turned to face Ron. Ron's back was facing Ann and his covers were pulled up over his head. "Ron," Ann shouted as she began shaking him. Suddenly Ron's covers fell down. Ann never showed up for work the following morning...
"Stoney Brook", at Christmas time, looked like a "winter wonderland". It was a peaceful and tranquil community. A place one could feel safe and secure...until one bitter cold night in December...
Carrie was half asleep when she felt Glen get into bed. Glen slowly edged his way over to her until she could feel the warmth of his body against hers. Carrie opened up one eye and looked at the digital clock on her nightstand... it was twelve o'clock.
"What were you doing in that cellar, all this time? Do you know you were down there for two hours?" she mumbled. Carrie could feel Glen's hot breath on the back of her neck. He then slowly placed his leg upon hers. "Yuck", Carrie said as she squirmed away from Glen. "You feel so hot and clammy!"

Sheriff Don Brinks of "Bridle Creek" and Sheriff Dan Drake of "Stoney Brook" were both faced with the same dilemma. Were the murders that took place in their quiet and peaceful community, what they appeared to be? Were they headed in the right direction with their investigation?
Before the sheriffs are able to find the answers to these questions, the unthinkable happens. Two more murders take place in "Bridle Creek". Sheriff Brinks calls Sheriff Drake for help. The two men get together to compare notes. After reviewing all the facts on each case, the similarities found were far too great to be dismissed. Both sheriffs agree it is time to call, Detective Joe Martin, forensic scientist, for the state of Nebraska.

About the Book
"The Last One Up" tells the story of a string of mysterious murders that begin to occur within two Nebraskan communities, "Bridle Creek" and "Stoney Brook". After their investigation, into the murders, is completed, Sheriff Don Brinks of "Bridle Creek" and Sheriff Dan Drake of "Stoney Brook" are both left with the same unanswered questions;

About the Author
Annette was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1945. She was brought to Staten Island, as a little girl and still resides there with her husband of forty-one years, Charlie. She has two sons, Dominick, who is single and Charles who is married to her "wonderful" daughter-in-law Vivian. Annette retired from her job, as a Chiropractic Assistant, in 1999 when she was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor. After the tumor was removed she came down with several autoimmune diseases, the latest of which she was diagnosed with four years ago, myasthenia gravis. "I have to say that out of all my illnesses, my myasthenia gravis and temporal lobe epilepsy are the two that have taken away most of my independence. I've spent a lot of time at home in the past eleven years." Staying at home, Annette says, hasn't been all that bad because it's given her the opportunity to get into her writing on a full time basis. "I've always enjoyed writing. Mostly I've written poems for family and friends on special occasions. This is my first try at a murder mystery." "I've learned two very important things through the years, and they are, "there is nothing in life that's more important than family" and "you're never too old to follow your dreams... "I hope my readers enjoy reading "The Last One Up" as much as I have enjoyed writing it."
