The crypt was just a little bunker with a door. There were stairs there that led deep underground. Once they opened the door, a gust of stale air came out of there and nearly blew out the torch that Conrad was carrying. - “All right. And now for the dessert.” Simekra smiled. - “Oh, I'm afraid we'll be having a bigger dessert than we've had of the dinner.” Conrad said sadly. - “It doesn't matter. I love dessert.” Simekra smiled even more. Both of them had a chuckle and then proceeded to enter the crypt. The stairs led them into an even scarier place. There were strange moaning sounds heard throughout the corridors. They were walking through the place very cautiously, because they didn't want to alert all the danger at once. Gladly there were some torches on the wall, so it wasn't too dark in there, but the gloom in a place like this was perhaps even spookier than full darkness could ever be. - “I don't like this.” Simekra commented after a while. Her stomach began to rumble from fear. Conrad didn't know what to say so just stayed quiet. Suddenly footsteps were heard to their left. Both turned around instantly and saw a corpse coming out of one of the chambers. Conrad was about to attack it when they heard lots of moaning sounds from up ahead, and when they turned to see, numerous zombies began exiting the side chambers and shuffling along the semi-dark corridor in their direction. There were so many of them that Simekra and Conrad thought they wouldn't manage to deal with them all. Conrad quickly beheaded the zombie that was the closest to him, then set the fallen head on fire and finally kicked it into the huge crowd of the approaching undead. A couple caught fire from the burning head, but that wasn't enough. Simekra then removed one of the torches that was on the wall and ran into the pack of undead. She then began hitting each and every one of them frantically. Their heads were exploding from the fiery impact of the torch. Simekra was truly ballistic there. Conrad quickly went in to help her, because it was too risky to be charging into a crowd of undead like that. He began making huge wide swings to make sure he could hit as many zombies as possible with each swipe.

About the Book
Samantha Kraven (aka Simekra) is a half human and half elf. Her parents were great heroes in their time. However when Samantha was just 6 years old they disappeared, thought to have been killed by an evil warlord named Seabert Grackston. Samantha is now 19, and after all these years of training herself how to fight, she hears of Seabert's arrival to the nearby lands. She decides to take this chance to avenge her parents. Together with two other brave warriors, Conrad and Helen, she sets off on a perilous journey, battling numerous monsters, to discover the mystery behind her parents' deaths and a strange rumour that she is to die at the age of 20, and to hopefully bring Seabert down once and for all. But is revenge really an answer? Is there a meaning to her life? Is there some kind of a divine intervention to all this? It is time Samantha found the answers to all these questions.
About the Author
Matthew Ashworth is a masters student, studying biological sciences and related subjects. However his favourite hobby is to write, in particular in a fantasy genre. Although being an academic person, he often gets inspired to write about characters and events involving them from his imagination. Whilst keeping the language in his stories fairly simple and appealing to the teen and young adult audience, his stories contain plenty of events, numerous characters, fantasy concepts and plentiful action. After having written many short stories and poems, he committed himself to a large story in a form of a TV show, called The Spellbound One, largely inspired by mythology such as Greek, Norse, Egyptian and Oriental, and set in a unique fantasy world where heroism is the most glorious quality one can possess and where sightings of mythological creatures aren't unusual.
