SEASON OF DISCERNMENT

The moment an individual comes to terms with the truth and he is able to make a distinction between abstract and reality, then a conclusion can be drawn that such an individual is able to see events unfurl in the light of how the pendulum of circumstances swings. This time around it is needless attributing this turn around to destiny or as the philosophers would call it fatalism, ”what will be will be”. Nevertheless, as free moral agents created by God we do have the sovereign right to make a difference in the direction we go in life through the choice we make in life. Poetry paints a picture of what obtains in life and various aspects of human experience applicable to the odyssey of humankind on earth. Life is a journey that everyman is supposed to travel with a heavenly companion who carries the compass that extends the scope of human sojourn on earth at the most critical moment. A poet is like an artist whose quest in painting, sketching, sculpting an imaginary reflection of seasons, events, and circumstances of life as they unfurl to him an observer sidelined by his penchant for adventures into the mysteries surrounding the real and surreal. However, we are the creatures of God and we are all unique in His sight. The gift of life and the gift of poesy make life exciting and exacting. Knowing full well, that nature is the breeding ground for poesy and for reflection. Poetry revolves around events and activities involving humankind and nature. This perhaps is the reason why I am inspired to write from the heart and not from my head in this collection of poems titled “SEASON OF DISCERNMENT”. THE NEW BREEDS Who having the eternal promise Behind every comment is a premise Loosening crux of the evil knots of loss For everyman to play the role of a boss Who having the vision of eternity As their two hands wrestle with dexterity Corporate willingness for prayers Never undermining the soothsayers Who having the catlike agility Behind their exuberance and virility Loosening the influence strings of their creeds Blazing the trail as the new breeds ERA OF BROWN ENVELOPES There was a time Brown envelopes matter Now it is another rhyme Nurturing men’s mind With the truth There was a time Power brokers thought Sword was mightier When men sought For the missing pen In the camp of the elites Alas, there is a change As the facts, begin to thrive Amidst the factoids That belittles the polity The era of giving out Brown envelopes In exchange for subjectivity As against objectivity I perceive is over.
