About the Book

A MOMENTS DECISION by IVAN A PEARTREE commences in the mid nineteen-fifties. One wintry morning an incident occurs within the depths of Jonathon Fisher's beloved River Stour in the English county of Suffolk. It was soon after this tragic event had taken place, and in order to rid them of the unsavoury taste that had built up because of it, that Jonathon, together with his two Mothers endure an extremely difficult and dramatic holiday on England's south coast where they found their hotel to be a sham. After building a most unsavoury relationship with one of Dorset's most obnoxious sons, Jonathon, decides that a spot of rock abseiling might be helpful in order to lessen the distress of any maidens who may have found themselves arguing with Warbarrow Tout. With over subscribed relations with Dorset's friendly hospital hovering, the Fishers return to Suffolk with more passengers than were taken with them.

It was after his return to the Mansion when Jonathon became guilt ridden because he had taken for granted the munificence of a past relative. And so, not being comfortable with the situation as it was, he and his girlfriend set off to right matters but without express permission of the Mothers, which in itself is not advisable, and which proved to produce more serious and unwanted results than the couple had bargained for.

About the Author

IVAN A PEARTREE was born in the Suffolk village of East Bergholt on the 14 July 1938 to George and May Peartree nee Dale.

He attended the Ipswich School of Art in the early fifties where he showed his ability with pencil and brush to be somewhat lacking to the casual observer.

After a relatively short service to H.M. the Queen in the R.A.F., where he trained as a nurse and later a member of the Mid East Parachute Medical Rescue Team, he took up a position as graphic designer to a print company. He then became Managing Director of that same company for a period of twenty two years. Next he managed the print department of a company that produced membrane and graphics for a membrane switch keyboard manufacturer for a further twenty years and from where he retired in 1998 to a life of bliss.

Upon retirement and feeling somewhat overwhelmed, even devastated at the prospect of having only mundane chores with which to fill a long and dreary day, his then lovely partner Barbara suggested he might contemplate writing his family history; (she, mistakenly considering it to be worth the while). Instead, he commenced writing, in long hand at first, and then with the aid of a laptop, the first of a binary of novels entitled A MATTER OF GREAT IMPORTANCE. The Second novel is entitled A MOMENTS DECISION and he is midway through a dissimilar third novel. In between times he has written a series of short stories.

On May the first of this year Ivan and Barbara joined hands in wedded ecstasy, bringing about a happy ever-aftering to both their lives.
