Slowly, I creep to my parents’ bedroom. I turn the cold door handle and look inside. The big bed is neat and no one has slept in it, but I can still smell them. Tears run down my face, and I’m surprised; it’s the first time I’ve cried since everything changed. I never cry. I didn’t cry at the funeral; I just stood and stared. Everyone has been saying kind words and lots of people keep hugging me, but it’s like a horrible dream.
