Jeremy Bird is the story of a young drake's adventures as he migrates with his family south. Jeremy is proud to be a member of a species as smart as his, born with the instincts needed for survival. He goes against his instincts and helps a cat; he sees his friends shot down; and on the return journey, he gets caught in an oil spill. His family thinks he has been eaten by the cat that he helped on the way down. They leave him for dead. He must depend on a human and a cat to help him out of this predicament. With only his instincts and memories of the trip south, he struggles against natural and man-made obstacles to find his way north to catch up with the flock. Jeremy's living habits are true to that of a wood duck. The conflicts Jeremy finds himself in are very possible.

About the Book
Jeremy was proud to be a member of a species as smart as his, born with the instincts needed for survival. A little guidance from the elders was all it took. But when he had an accident and was left for dead by his family, he wondered if his instincts and memory were sufficient for getting him back with the flock. Come look at life and the struggle for survival from Jeremy Bird's point of view.
About the Author
The author, Dr. Trawick, grew up in South Georgia. She holds degrees from Middle Georgia College, Georgia College and State University, The University of Texas, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Argosy University. She has spent twenty-seven years in education and is currently teaching gifted language arts at Henderson Middle School in Jackson, GA. She and her husband John have four children and ten grandchildren. The illustrator, Rhonda McFarland, grew up in rural Alabama. She graduated from Troy State University with a degree in studio art, and from the University of Georgia with a degree in photography. She currently teaches art where she resides in Central Georgia.
