He jumped out of the boxcar and hit the ground hard. Immediately, he grabbed his left arm and rolled to a stop--but didn't get up. For a moment, my world stopped, everything seemed as if it were on pause.
She recoiled into her own thoughts and began to take stock of my life. How could it have come to this? She asked herself. What have we done to deserve losing everything? Everything? My home, my family, everything has, more or less, just been washed away. I promised to take care of my brother but I can't even take care of myself. We have enough food for a few days but beyond that, I don’t' know how I’m going to feed us. Our family was perfect, it was great, and now look at us…what's left of us.
