Jack believes that the atomic bomb saved many soldiers lives, because the invasion of Japan would have cost thousands of American soldiers. The B29 was dropped from the Nola Gay and then it returned to Tinian Island. August 9th 1945. They dropped one more then the War ended.

Jack Abernathy is now 86 years old. He remembers events of World War 11 sixty years after these events took place. Jack has four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
