About the Book

Nearly all of the Rambo families in the United States are descended from one common ancestor: Peter Gunnarson Rambo, a Swedish colonist who landed on the shores of the Delaware River in 1640 at what is now Wilmington, Delaware. This history of the Rambo family describes Peter and his six children and lists their descendants who have migrated into every state of the Union. Some of the family lines have been extended to the 12th generation with their children comprising the 13th generation.

Gunnar Rambo, Peter Gunnarson Rambo's oldest son, and descendants of his sons: Peter, Mans, Gabriel and Elias are the focus of this second volume of the Rambo Family Tree series. Gunnar was an active member of Gloria Dei Church, became a large landowner, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly in 1685. Gunnar and wife Anneka Cock lived at Shackamaxon [now part of Philadelphia] for 20 years until he sold that property in 1697 and moved to Matsunk [now Swedesburg]. This volume lists all their children and many generations of descendants although generally no people still living will be recorded herein.

Rambo is the primary surname in this book although extended families are recorded by daughters who married Anderson, Baldridge, Bower, Cole, Cruzen, DeHaven, Evans, Holstein, Ickes, Jordan, Koplin, Lincoln, North, Reno, Wilson, and Young husbands.

About the Author

Ron Beatty discovered a passion for genealogy thirty years ago when he interrupted a motorcycle trip to visit his Aunt Verla in Sun City, Arizona. He knew that his brother & sister enjoyed genealogy and wanted a copy of Verla's materials. Verla accepted Ron's offer to type; a week later they were both worn out. Ron had "made" a Christmas present for brother, sister, and Aunt Verla. The following winter Ron was greatly surprised later to find that he had gotten "hooked" on genealogy.

Ron is now in his third retirement and is still pursuing those elusive ancestors. His genealogical research benefits from his love of travel (still motorcycling), his years of experience with the courts (as systems analyst), and his advanced computer skills. Ron has always loved puzzles and genealogy is the granddaddy of them all.

At the moment, Ron and Cynthia are celebrating the New Year in Hawaii. We are still motorcycling, hiking, and genealogizing. rsbeatty@gmail.com
