Tailoring the Green Suit

This book does not survey the wider green jobs array, nor is it a how-to book for landing so-called green collar jobs. Rather, this book addresses the segment of the labor pool that has been greatly overlooked in the green jobs discussion: management executives who are already in—or will some day be a part of—the new green economy’s workforce. I call these men and women The Green Suits. They are ambitious business executives who are in, or wish to enter, the renewable energy and conservation sectors. They are executives looking to turn their conventional companies and market verticals green. And they are hell bent on changing the world. Whether they have earned fresh bachelors, masters, or doctoral degrees or have been part of the executive ranks for the past twenty-five-plus years, many business executives will be drawn into green business by the prospects of career success and monetary reward. Many executives will also be guided by their own strong sense of social conscience and will seek management executive employment opportunities in green business so that they may do well and do right, making the world a better place.
