About the Book

The author, a first grade teacher for over 34 years, grew up on a wheat farm in western Kansas and set out to use this farm and her family’s history to write and photograph a book about Kansas’ number one crop.
About the Author
Deanna Fisher Baginski lives and teaches in the suburbs of Kansas City, Kansas. She has been teaching first graders for thirty-three years and has a passion for teaching them to read. Out of this came the author’s idea and need for this book. Many children from the city do not have the background information they need to read and learn about life in rural Kansas. The author grew up on a wheat farm in western Kansas and set out to use this farm and her family’s history to write and photograph a book about Kansas’ number one crop. Mrs. Baginski was invited to the Kansas Capitol to meet with former Governor Kathleen Sebelius and to present a book to the Capitol Library. Mrs. Baginski has two grown children and two grandchildren. She enjoys growing in her faith, spending time with her family and friends, helping others, traveling, and shopping.
