Non-resident parents’ failure to exercise contact has never been addressed in public policy and has been described as an `invisible problem’.
It always strikes me that perhaps, one day, some divine retribution will attend to all parents who turn a large slappy McDonald’s cheek to their responsibilities. How can I describe how I feel without sounding crude? If important issues were recognised and acted on, we would all succeed.
Too many times, far too much self-help and strong reliance on others is implemented and it is very difficult because there usually doesn’t follow that there’s a good get-out clause or legislative underlay. Being short of money for so long is crippling. Why should innocent children have to suffer the deeds of parents? I know one single mother who has a little girl of six and they live in sordid conditions. She is mostly unable to provide her child with the sort of home that she herself was used to from her middle-class background. She is constantly fearful of inviting her daughter’s school friends home and too proud to let her family visit her because she feels that the sort of life she is living now, with her child, indicates gross failure on her part. Her partner has spent most of his child’s life evading contact or any amount of support. Other countries and leaders have their own way of tackling poverty, and they support their population, they are many and diverse. The simplest form of state welfare runs on a system where the correct amount of maintenance for financial support is paid to single
parents regardless of its journey.
Authorities elsewhere make their
own investigations and recover the
costs. And trust me, they do recover

She challenges social exclusion and discrimination and screams in the face of unequal opportunity. She has worked consistently amongst disadvantaged individuals and empowered social groups from societal abrasions. She writes within a collection of real life issues and brings to the world's `table' shared views of how injustice prevails. She qualifies as an exemplary parent, with many nurturing and protective skills to enhance the lives of family, friends and individuals in need.
