Maggie followed her in.
“So I hear you walked out on your job,” she said.
“Yep, I wanted to be with Elliot,” nodded Tess.
Suddenly something that sounded like glass breaking came from the lounge.
“What the bloody hell?” asked Maggie.
They went into the lounge but no one was there. The front door however was wide open, the glass in the small widow was broken.
Maggie suddenly screamed and collapsed on the floor. Tess turned to see what had hit her. Scott was stood right behind her. He had hit Maggie and was now holding the wooden bat above his head, ready to hit Tess.
Tess also screamed and tried to run for the door, but Scott, who said nothing, was too fast. He jumped in front of her to block her path.
“Help!” yelled Tess.
Her phone was on the kitchen cabinet, if she could get there she could phone an ambulance for Maggie, who was unconscious on the floor.
Tess shouted for help again before turning and trying to run out, but Scott was close behind her. Suddenly he disappeared.
Tess ran to the kitchen and grabbed her phone but before she could dial for help, Scott crept up on her and hit her too. Tess fell on the floor near the cabinet. Tess and Maggie were both unconscious with no one coming to help them. Scott ran off into the night.
Elliot and Robbie returned about half an hour after the attack. When they first pulled up on the drive they noticed nothing.
“Thanks for the lift mate,” Elliot clapped Robbie hard on the shoulder.
Then he saw the state of the door.
“Tess!” he yelled, panic stricken. What happened?
“Look Maggie,” Robbie saw her first; she was lying on the floor by the sofa, a cut just above her eyebrow.
He bent down and tried to revive her but she wasn’t responding.
Elliot looked around for Tess, but there was no sign of her in the lounge so he went to the kitchen. He saw her lying by the cabinet. She was on her stomach her head was tilted to one side so she wasn’t face down. Even though he was relieved to find her his fear set in for her safety.
“Robbie, call an Ambulance now!” he yelled.
Robbie was useless his phone had no credit. Elliot had left his in the car so he grabbed Tess’ and rang for help.

It isn’t long before Tess falls pregnant and she and best friend Maggie are due around the same time of year. But Maggie’s fiancé is reluctant to take on fatherhood and when Tess’s daughter Maria is just one day old Tess find’s herself having to be at Maggie’s side for the arrival of her twin girls.
Tess watches as her life passes her by and she jumps from a career as a photographer to a teacher, she encounters several trials on her path through life. She watches Maria growing but still the relationship with Elliot remains strong.
But when Elliot’s health takes a turn for the worst he and Tess are shattered by heartbreaking news. As Tess struggles to cope under the pressure her family and best friends Maggie and Amanda try to make it easier for the couple. But when Maggie is suddenly caught in a road accident and Elliot’s health fading fast Tess and Maria have to pull together to stay strong for a weak Elliot.
About the Author
My name is Abby Howard. I was born in Shrewsbury in 1995 and have lived my entire life in Telford. I have always been interested in reading and writing and it’s the only thing I’ve always known I wanted to do.
I started writing A Teardrop of Love in 2006 when I was eleven and I finished it when I was thirteen in 2008. I had a lot of support from my friends and family. I was helped out with ideas and proof reading by my best friends. They were very supportive and I have based the personalities of the characters Maggie and Amanda on them. My Mum helped out with proof reading the final draft massively.
I had always wanted to write a romance novel and I had had idea’s rumbling around my head for a while so I sat down and began to write. I’ve never been an expert at anything but this was something I was determined to be good at. I was able to take things from my life and my experiences to create the events in my writing.
I’m very opinionated on people, places and things that go on around me so I try to express thing in slightly more structured way through my characters. I’ve never been very good at making speeches but with my friends I never shut up. And it’s become the family joke. I enjoy anything involving comedy and most of the time I’m up for a laugh, my mates are great at keeping me smiling.
I juggle my writing with other things that I’m doing which usually means I can only write in the evenings and weekends. But when I can I can be writing Kate into the night depending on what sort of a mood I’m in.
