The Mother Zone
A young girl looks in amazement at the canyon below while teetering at the edge of its precipice.
She watches in fear as her Mother lets her baby brother down. "No, not here," the girl exclaims in anguish.
No wonder or acknowledgement from her Mother's vacant shell as she lets her young son down.
"Mother," the girl screams as her little brother's chubby legs try to find their footing on the rocky ledge.
The girl tries to herd her baby brother to safety. Yelling, "Go back, go back," in a panic. He laughs unknowingly. She scrambles to a tree yelling for help from her Mother. She is met with vacant eyes.
Suddenly, an elderly man appears from out of the brush and yells, "Hey lady, I don't want to see your kids fall off this cliff." She then calls her young son over.
Bubbling and giggling, the toddler runs back to his Mother. She accepts him into her arms. The man approaches her and asks, "Just what the hell's the matter with you?"
The family then hurries down the steps, her Mother avoiding the angry man. She loads her children into the car. She appears to come back to her senses.
They travel to the next state and back home the next day, the young girl feeling more insecure than ever.
My Sweet Bottom
I am about four or five years old. Dad calls me over; motioning me to sit next to him. I run over and jump to his side. He slips his hand down the back of my panties. I feel his warm hand on my bare bottom as he pulls me close.
Mom peers out of the kitchen and yells, "Will you stop that!" Dad removes his hand. "Why do you have to do that?" she demands. "Well, their bottoms are so soft, cute and warm," he sheepishly responds. "Well, she's too old for that now," Mom insists.
At night, Dad puts me to bed and asks if he can lie down next to me. I nod yes. He moves me close to his chest, I can feel his breath as he inhales and exhales. He puts his hand on my naked bottom. I fall asleep.
I awake to Mom standing over us, "Would you get out of her bed now, she's too old for you to be sleeping with her," she firmly tells him. Dad still half asleep, moves slowly over me as he makes his way to the door. Mom follows behind him.

About the Book
"Growing Up with Incest and Abuse," Is a sad and tragic story about children raised by abusive parents; a violent pedophile father and an alcoholic mother.
The children's victimization is heart wrenching and not all survive the emotional turmoil of sexual and physical assault. Their stories show the effects of growing up in an abusive environment. The trauma they endured had everlasting effects on their psyche with crippling consequences.
The stories are written as remembered by the author. She uses vignettes, poetry and narration to express her thoughts and feelings about her childhood. It is her interpretation of what she and her siblings experienced growing up with abusive parents.
About the Author
I have worked as an LPN and RN and have close to twenty years of experience in the health care fields. I am also a mother, wife and incest survivor.
For years, I held back the grief I had for the loss of my childhood as well as the loss of my brother and sister to suicide. I tried living my life as an ordinary person. But, I always felt uneasy with my memories which would come back to haunt me on those special days such as anniversaries, birthdays and holidays. At those times, I would find relief and solace in writing poetry.
"Home of a Family Fractured by Incest and Abuse," is my first publication of my families' secret written in poetry. After its publication, I felt I could say more and published, "Growing Up with Incest and Abuse."
In my second book, I immerse myself in my childhood experiences using vignettes, poetry and narration to express myself.
If you are not a survivor, I hope that by reading my books you will acquire a deeper understanding for incest and abuse. For survivors who read my books, I wish you the very best in your recovery.
