They suddenly realize, at the other end of that on coming tethered steel cable it is attached to a giant ship following it now which is about to crash down on top of them at any moment. A decision has to be made, and it has to be made right now! To disconnect, this would mean, no way to surface, they have a choice, to either be crushed by the oncoming ship or to die from suffocation. The decision is to disconnect while they still have the power. As the submergible has the ability to travel forward and back was handled by the mother ship, it could however turn from side to side. Danny, being at the controls, started to wiggle the sub, which is enough to, (hopefully) move away enough to be out of harms way. Now Philip reports, the outside camera’s, in which also had passive infrared, have gone off line, The realization of the dropping mother ship was apparent, they couldn’t see it, nor could they feel its pressure as it was approaching, however they could definitely hear a sound that was so frightening, it sounded like a giant toilet had just been flushed and they are right in the middle of it, but with no pressure against their craft as it passed, in fact there was no outside pressure at all, (none).
Rhonda says, “We are still descending,” how fast the crew doesn’t know, as their instruments are still not working now the submergible is starting to lose more power.
It was decided by everyone that they remove themselves from their seats, get down on the floor and lie on their backs to prepare for impact, they feel if they stay in their seats, they could break most of their bones, including their backs when they hit bottom. This maneuver is second to impossible as they moved from their seats to the floor for the speed in which they were dropping. They found, all they can do is lie there, waiting for what fate has in store for them. So many thoughts are running through their heads, would they land on top of the ship? Time is passing, how far have they descended? Will they ever be found? In their minds they are doing there best, not to show each other the terror they are feeling. But wait? What was going on outside? They feel as if they are starting to float, this is strange. Nicole says, “I feel as if I can float all around in here.” Still nothing seemed to be happening, the thought comes over them, “maybe were dead!” This was a time that seemed to take forever. All of a sudden, Jill says, “there’s light coming through the windows” In the absence of weight they have been encountering, it’s starting to reverse itself Rhonda says, “Jill’s right, there is light coming through, I don’t understand, it feels as if we just landed on a giant pillow, every one pulls themselves from the floor and starts to gaze out the windows, all they can see is light, obviously coming in from their porthole windows. Dan says “the water outside is perfectly clear, but I can’t see anything, anywhere I look”. This is something they have never expected. Things became so Strange They have almost forgotten their fright of dying. Philip says, “Do you think maybe in all this weirdness, we may have floated back upward and have landed in some type of shallow area?” Dan says, “Look up, you can’t see the surface of the water anywhere”. Now they are starting to worry all over again. The crew is sitting there, just trying to figure out where in the Hell they are. Dan is starting to speak to Rhonda, but became speechless, suddenly the craft starts to move, or did it? It felt like it was moving, but really its not, the water level was starting to drop. Its surface line down had passed the windows, Jadene says, “yes, we are moving”, Philip says, “we really are moving, but where are we moving to?” Now the crew can actually feel themselves moving in the sand, ever so softly, just as Dan is saying to Rhonda, “what’s going on” the movement stops. Now they find themselves sitting in their craft, on sand, with absolutely no water outside whatsoever. Jill says, “Where in God’s name are we?” Danny’s reply is “the last time I had a real reading on the instruments, we had about six hours of oxygen, and if my calculations are right, we ought to be running out at any time now”.
Now a decision has to be made, once again. Dan says, “well if were about to exhaust what oxygen there is aboard, maybe we should entertain examining the outside conditions to see if it will support our needs. Well it doesn’t take more than just a few moments to realize, sleepiness is about them, which only meant one thing (OUT OF AIR). So very slowly, Philip decides to open the outer hatch.” What a relief,” he says “The outside air seems so very fresh and seems to have a heavenly smell to it. As they are standing on top of their craft, time seems to be endless. Danny looks at his dad and starts down the ladder mounted on the side and steps onto what appeared to be very soft sand. One by one they all follow. As they look about, all they could see is soft bleached white sand below their feet. Rhonda says to Jill “look its light coming from what appears to be everywhere”. There they are standing in the middle of nowhere and not knowing how they really got there. “Is this heaven?” Jadene said “is this what happens when you die?” many thoughts pass between the seven. They realized as they walk around in the sand, their body weight does not seem quite the same, as there is a much lesser weight bearing down on their feet. A decision has to be made as what to do from this point. From where they are standing, all they can observe is sand as far as the eye can see, however right straight ahead of the direction in which the craft is pointed, is what appears to be a large sand dune and it looks about 200’ high or so.
Dan and Danny decide to climb to the top of the dune to get a better vantage point of what may lie in the surrounding area. As the two men are ascending the dune, they noticed they are not perspiring, nor are they tiring much. They figured this must be due to the lack of gravity plus the energy their getting from the rich air they are breathing. It seems to take no time what so ever to reach the dunes peak. Once they have reached the top what they see is totally breathtaking.
