"Natural High" - What to me is the most euphoric feeling transcendent of being on a "high" does not have its origin in narcotics, alcohol, tobacco, or any venal pursuit, but in regular everyday physical, social, emotional and intellectual functioning,
It begs description. The glow that emanates from within kindles the entire being, and makes the spirit soar. It engenders a feeling of oneness with the universe, and imbues a feeling of invincibleness.
There is a surge of energy which issues steadily forth from the psyche, or rises and falls like the crest of a wave. It can be intense and deep transforming the tempo of body mechanics and suspending the libido. At its peak, the change in body rhythms expel cravings that diminish the feeling of being on a perpetual high.
During this state, consciousness is heightened, physical and mental capacities are increased resulting in greater sensitivity and awareness of one's existence. One is in and yet not of this place. Time stands still, and there is no boundary to one's existence; distance is traversed in a wink ; time and space become enjoined, giving a glimpse into one's immortality.
The purity of these bodily rhythms inspire harmony, balance and restraint in life. It allows the individual to overcome barriers to achieving, repel base appetites, project beyond the "here and now" and to take charge of life.
To attempt to induce this state of altered consciousness is to subvert body rhythms...
The effect is the reverse of what is intended...
Banish the pipe, needle, bottle, gun and fashion. Subdue base appetites. Instead breathe deeply of life.

About the Author
T. C. Camp is a U.S. citizen whose writings reflect his Jamaican heritage. He resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. with his wife, Judiana, and family. He has a B. Ed. Degree from the University of the West Indies (1977) and a Teacher's Diploma from the Mico Teacher's College (1969). He worked in Teacher Educatuion at the Bethlehem Teacher's College for almost a decade before he migrated. It took a couple of writing classes at Florida Atlantic University to rekindle his love for writing.
