About the Book
When my grandfather left his family, he had taken his finances with him. Basic necessities became scarce. My dad told me a story once about being woke up out of his sleep because of a deep hunger. He decided that he would fix himself a jelly sandwich with the one slice of bread that was left since they had no meat.
He crept in the dark kitchen, reached into the cupboard and felt for the plastic bag which protected the last slice of bread. His stomach growled and his mouth watered in anticipation of spreading the jelly on the bread to ease his hunger. Once he reached in the bag there he felt a warm, fat, and fury RAT! He was disappointed because the rat had destroyed his plan from being able to satisfy his hunger.
I felt my dad’s disappointment on a whole ‘nother level. How many times have I been hungry for a steak man only to find myself working with bread and jelly? But just when I think I can satisfy my hunger…along comes a HOODRAT and snatches up my bread!
Just like a rat- hoodrats are usually gutter rodents that shop and eat in places that I would never dream of. But one thing for sure is…MEN LOVE HOODRATS! Because I couldn’t beat ‘em…Hell, I decided to join ‘em!
