Tal
returned his attention to his house, he knew Drew could take care of
himself.Tal moved to the door and
gently opened it, moving it as silently as he could, he peered inside.Inside his mother and father were being held
against the wall by another Dark Elf at sword point.
“Tell
me where the child is and you will live. This is your final warning and failure to answer will result in a
painful death for both of you.”Spoke
the Dark elf.
“Well
then you had best be about your business, ‘cause we’re not speaking.”Replied Jegar with an expression of despise.
This
was enough for Tal, never before had he felt the fire that was now coursing
through his veins, it was a simple emotion, anger purified.Who was this man to threaten his family? With
a cry escaping from his throat he threw himself into the room, swinging
savagely at the elf.The elf spun at the
unexpected entrance and barely deflected Tal’s first blow. The surprise was soon lost however and the
elf defended before he started an attack that forced Tal back towards the
door.Tal was blocking from instinct, a
series of reflex motions that held no hope of countering any of the Dark
Cousin's strikes.Soon he found himself
with his back to the wall when the Dark Elf finally stopped his attack.
“So
the child returns.”Mused the elf.“Well, I was hoping for more. I thought you
would have been a challenge, but you're nothing more than an infant are you?”With a look of pure delight the elf raised
his wicked looking sword.His look
changed to one of surprise as the elf spun, Drew’s knife buried deep into the
back of his neck and with a gurgling sound the elf dropped to the floor.
The
Dark Cousin was dressed in black with leather armour and a grey cloak draped
across his shoulders.Drew glanced at
the body and looked ill.Tal was in
shock, he had just rushed into the house without thinking of the consequences
and nearly died because of it.Jegar and
Lynette were still standing against the wall.
Tal
looked at his family and Drew, he wondered what he was going to tell them…
