THE EASTER THAT ALMOST WASN’T
“I’m so worried,” said the Easter Bunny. “This is our most important time of the year. Children all over the world are looking forward to their Easter baskets and colored eggs. I can’t let them down.”
“Yes,” answered Mrs. Easter Bunny, “but now you have to rest.”
It was only a few days before Easter and our dear Easter Bunny was ill.
“A—Ah—Choo!!”
At first he thought it was just a common cold and he would get over it quickly. However, it turned out he had Bunny Flu #2, which was much more serious. His nose was stuffed and couldn’t wiggle. He sneezed and coughed. His normally majestic ears drooped sorrowfully. His voice was so hoarse that he sounded more like a bear than a bunny.
Mrs. Bunny said, “Dear, I’ve made a big pot of carrot and cabbage soup.”
She patiently paw-fed him, hoping it would give him strength and make him feel better.
After he finished he asked Mrs. Bunny, “Please call in Mr. Rooster for a short meeting.”
Mr. Rooster was in charge of all Easter egg production.
“How is your Easter egg count?” asked Mr. Bunny. “Are the hens producing enough eggs?”
“Oh, yes,” replied Mr. Rooster. “We actually have more than enough. The hens are particularly happy this year and so production is up. Our quality control shows our Easter eggs are the best ever! But if you’ll excuse me, sir,” continued Mr. Rooster, “the other managers and I are concerned about delivery.”
“Yes, I understand,” answered Mr. Bunny. “But just concentrate on your job and I’ll take care of delivery as always.”
Those were brave words but deep down Mr. Bunny wasn’t so sure. It was only two days before Easter.
He slowly turned to Mrs. Bunny and said, “Honey Bunny, I just have to feel better tomorrow. I’m the only one that can make a one-day delivery all over the world.”
The Easter Bunny ate most of his carrot and cabbage soup and went to sleep early. He awakened the following morning disappointed. His condition had not improved.
Mrs. Bunny was at his side as usual.
“Dear,” he said, “I need to call a meeting with all my top managers. Perhaps, if we put our heads together, we can come up with an answer.”
Mr. Easter Bunny decided to stay in bed and have the meeting right in the bedroom. All the management bunnies filed in one after the other and sat down.

About the Author
Richard Wilkinson has established himself as a prolific entrepreneur who has had extensive experience in manufacturing and marketing. One of his first projects was pioneering and operating a garment factory along with 14 retail Hawaiian Wear shops. A strong interest in marketing led him to establish a hardware and automotive products distributing company and later a general brokerage business. More recently, he has reached into his past and perfected an old family recipe that he is currently marketing.
