From Christmas to Easter: A Celebration

God sent His Son, Jesus

To us down from heaven.

Though nobody noticed

But shepherds and Kings,

Who studied the stars,

Knew eternal things.

And yet heedless of this,

People rushed everywhere –

Bethlehem was so busy,

With no room to spare.

For the Gift that God gave,

No room found in the inn,

And only a manger

As cradle for Him.

And this Gift that was precious

Was mostly ignored –

Except for three years

On the Galilee shores.

Where he took the time then

To explain why He came,

And He changed people’s lives,

They were never the same.

Yet regardless of this,

People tried to destroy

A Gift only intended

To bring peace and joy.

But thankfully, though

In spite of this sin -

The Gift is still here,

For they did not win.

So this year again,

Will we rush everywhere?

So busy at Christmas

There’s no time to spare.

This Christmas the best Gift

Is offered again.

Will we do with Him now

What they did with Him then?

A Gift that’s so precious,

It had to be free –

Don’t cast Him aside
