About the Book
We don’t ponder anymore. There is no time. We have our day mapped out on the blackberry and we cannot deviate or the whole schedule will go to hell in a hand basket. We need to ponder. Ponder why your congressman and senator is an elitist that you cannot get to talk to unless it is election time and he wants to talk to you and all your friends. Ponder why the congressman and senator are your employee and you cannot get to see or talk to them. I have pondered these and many other things and have concluded that one person cannot solve the problems of our society and our world. The solution lies within the grasp of the populace. The populace can solve a problem simply by recognizing that it is a problem. Once it is recognized the search will begin. Many will come forth with potential solutions. The populace will decide which solution is best. The best solutions will be determined by common sense. I have tried to make common sense a part of my life. I think that many people have relied on others to make decisions for them. It hasn’t worked out too well in my opinion, and I think it is time that we began to look at our problems and demand solutions from ourselves and others. Politicians and the media are failing us, and we are mistaken to relinquish the power of decision to them.
I hope that you will enjoy this book and that you will ponder the meaning of my writing.
About the Author
I am a conservative, somewhat republican. I voted for Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon and most of the rest. I vote for what the republican party is supposed to stand for, but in many cases does not. I am basically a frugal man who likes to take care of myself. I have taught myself to do home repairs and remodeling, I have worked on cars and even once built a kit car. I mow my own grass and paint my own home. I went straight from high school into the Navy. After my discharge I worked for one year at two jobs until I was hired by the Philadelphia Police Department.
During twenty three years in the Police Department, I was promoted four times. I went to night school for fifteen years and received a Bachelors, Masters and Law Degree. After the Police Department I practiced law for twenty five years. I have never been an insider, but I believe I know what is going on and I don’t like it.
I am proud of my Police career and feel that during that time I kept my balance by remembering always that I worked for the people I policed and not for the Police Department. The Police Department has no earnings. There is no product to sell and no profit to be made. When I received my check every two weeks it was because taxpayers worked and the government took some of their money to provide protection. I tried to give the people their money’s worth.
Many people see the same things that I see every day and perhaps don’t get the same meaning from the events. I am not critical of them. I just feel that they are not noticing the same things that I notice.
Like everyone else who tries to write a book about something, I feel that I have a message to send out to anyone who would read my words. It is my hope that my words might lead people to look at events and what we have become as Americans in a different way. Perhaps I can lead readers to recognize the values of our forefathers and try to bring those values back into our twenty-first century life. In the twenty-first century we see a world that is shrunken in size and time. A pioneer’s trip from the East coast to
