I may have been born an anthropologist for as long as I can remember I sat quietly observing others ' behavior. When I went to a party, I would seek out the loneliest person or just watch the dynamics of what went on. After I started my first job in downtown Los Angeles, I spent my entire lunch period walking for blocks looking at the interesting people there. As I was from the suburbs, this was a real education. My job was on the third floor at the corner of Third and Main Street with a window looking down upon the Union Rescue Mission and St. Viviana's Cathedral. I would watch the lines of people waiting to be fed and various social dramas that went on at that corner of humanity. When I went to college, I relished my classes in anthropology, sociology and history. At the time of my first trip to the Yucatan, I was majoring in sociology, but by the time I came back, my whole focus changed to Mesoamerican archeology and the anthropology of Latin America.

This book is divided into two parts. The first is how we got involved in the study of Central American Indians.
The second is what she determined, from her studies; define the changes made by the Spanish influence on the regain.
About the Author
After our third trip to Mexico, my talented wife used her anthropology back ground to research an developed this book. Mostly influenced by the Maya but studied all of the native culture, Linda was still revising and updating her book when she was taken from us. As not to misinterpret, I will have it published as is.
