Debut into the Cotton fields
I was probably about six or seven years
of age when I made my debut into the
cotton fields. Dad had strict rules that
governed your work day. First, you
pulled your own weight, in other words,
as you picked cotton you were expect
ed to pull your cotton sack along
behind you, no excuses and no whining.
A typical day in the cotton fields went
as follows. The appropriate attire was
essential to prevent sun damage; we
were all instructed to wear long sleeve
shirts and a wide brim hat. Many
of the cotton pickers also wrapped a
bath towel around their necks to
absorb sweat and to protect their
neckline. About five or six o'clock
in the morning you were picked up
by a local " hauler". The hauler was
someone that the landowners hired to
secure the necessary labor to get the
crop harvested. This "hauler" was
ususally paid a flat fee per head
count. After being picked up by the
hauler, we were driven over to the field
where we would be working for the
day. The crew leader made the
assignments and gave the

This book will encourage you to seek God's will for your own life, which leads to experiencing the abundant life Jesus talked about in John 10:10. It is vitally important that we examine and reflect on our lives, to see the grace of God and begin to follow HIS plan and purpose. I pray this book will be an instrument which God can use to bring others into His Kingdom.
About the Author
Barbara Ann Holt Holloway is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She has a rare gift in identifying and extracting spiritual significance from things and situations that appear insignificant. Her story will inspire you to seek a closer relationship with the Lord. Her unique writing style will prompt you into self discovery and self reflection as you continue your walk with the Lord. Barbara has a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, she graduated from Washington University Nurse Anesthesia Graduate Program in St. Louis Missouri in 1990 and currently practices as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in St. Peters, Missouri. Barbara graduated from Way of Life Seminary in August of 2006 with a degree in Biblical Studies. She has traveled exclusively to Pignon, Haiti for over fifteen years providing anesthesia services and ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She also has been a featured speaker at Christian conferences internationally. Barbara and her husband, Chris live in St. Charles, Missouri , they have seven children and seventeen grandchildren..
