About the Book

The Adventures of Mudpie is the first book in a series of five books called Raindrop Angels.  Written for all storytellers—parents, teachers, siblings, aunts. uncles, and friends—who want to take a child’s imagination to places where small angels playfully provoke their thoughts, The Adventures of Mudpie will surely enchant young and old. Mother Angel reviews children’s thoughts, prayers, desires, and selects an angel to support and nurture each child. The angel is assigned a mission and travels to earth in a raindrop to accomplish it. Its important to note, that it's the mission where the adventure begins as the angel works to earn his wings and becomes the child’s guardian angel. This story will engage young and old into highly interactive conversations providing warming thoughts for the child and bringing about memories of playful times past for the adults. Childhood is timeless for children—a phase of endless creativity. Watch your child’s eyes light up as characters in the story venture into situations that make their small world larger than life! This chapter book will surely be treasured by your child wanting to hear the story over and over again.

About the Author

Yvette Melendez-Shafe grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A daughter of immigrants: Oscar Melendez and Eva Iris Torres, from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, Yvette discovered early on that being the middle child of five siblings would be an adventure in and of itself, and that it would not be something to be taken lightly. Yvette recalls climbing to her favorite spot, a huge and only peach tree in her backyard. She would sit on a thick branch, with her friend Cassandra where they watched the unruly behavior of many who lived in this inner city neighborhood. They spent hours in that tree making up stories about angels they believed dwelled among them. That peach tree became their secret place and there among the thick branches of their bird's eye view of the streets of Philadelphia, they planned all sorts of fun adventures. Yvette has had the opportunity to meet children and people from many cultures through her travels around the world. She asks "you", the storyteller to go back to childhood, to a time where you experienced a “wow moment”, and relish that memory while providing your child with his. Believe in angels again says Yvette—they really do play with us from time to time!
