For the Glory of God

On March 31st, 1985 the Lord spoke to my heart and told me to write this book. After healing me from pnemonia, right there on my sick bed. He said, my life would be a testimony unto others. What He has done for me, He could and would do the same for them. So He told me He wanted me to write a book for Him. To tell them that He is still a Miracle Working God today, just as He was 2000 years ago. I told Him, Lord, no one will believe all that my Son and I have lived in. He told me to back everything up with a verse and He would help me In every aspect of the book, the remembering of it, writing, and publishing and in every way. Jesus has helped me, just as He promised He would do.

Shirley Johnston was number 8 in a line of 9 children. Her parents was afraid that show wouldn’t live, but God had other plans. Every aspect of her life is a Miracle from God. That is why she gives Him all the praise and glory for it.

I was born in Indiana, but raised in Tennessee until seven years old. Then my family moved back to Indiana. In Tennessee I lived through some hard times. My Dad drank and made moonshine, and my Mother kept the family together. My Mother raised all of us in the ways of the Lord.

I also had 13 surgeries altogether in my life. Four open heart, at different ages in my life, three at birth on my stomach, two at eight years old on my lungs. Then one for cancer, and three female surgeries.

My Mother passed away when I was eighteen. But knowing that Mom was with Sweet Jesus, and the Master is what comforted me a lot. Then at age twenty I became a Mother. I had one Son named Jason. He is a gift from God to me. But all of the above, the Doctors said, I would never live through it. But like the promise that I always hold on from Sweet Jesus in Matthew 19:26, “With God All Things are Possible!”

Then after living through all of this I marry a man, I thought would be a perfect mate. I dreamed of a wonderful future with him. My dreams of heaven on earth, quickly turn into real-life H-E-L-L. Through years sorrow, and pain I begin to dream of ways to end the H-E-L-L that my Son and I are living in. But will we escape with our lives? But I know God would make a way again.

So this book is a story of my life, but just half of it. The Master has delivered my Son and I from 4 fires, 2 floods, and 1 hurricane. That is just to name a few disasters that Sweet Jesus has brought us through. Some of the other evens, most people could only imagine surviving.

There is a lot of messages and lessons to be learned from this book. One message is that God truly is the answer to every problem. Another one, we don’t have t live in nightmares and messes that we get ourselves into. If we hold on to God’s Unchanging Hand. He truly is a “Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” So you see God did have other plans for my life.

This book is true story and mystery, but also a nightmare, all in one. It is truly a lot of tests in my life, turned into testamonies. But through all the fear, pain, and torment I do persevere through the help of Almighty God.

I want to tell people what a Delivering God we serve. Of His Tender Love and Mercy, and His Amazing Grace. That’s another reason the title of the book is, For the Glory of God. The Master wants me to write another book, about the other half of my life. The title is, Book of Miracles from God. For He truly is a Miracle Working God!
